Fides et Ratio Foundation in Brescia
Fides et Ratio brings young people from Brescia together through learning, friendship and discussion. Faith and reason guide their exploration of the present and their responsibility towards the future.
From a group to a foundation
Fides et Ratio began in December 2018, when a group of young people from Brescia set out to create new, challenging opportunities for shared religious and cultural learning. The involvement of members and their families gave continuity to the project, building a community rooted in friendship and shared values.
Fondazione Fides et Ratio E.T.S. was established in Brescia on 19 June 2025 to support the education of younger generations. It was recognised and entered in Italy’s National Single Register of the Third Sector (RUNTS) on 5 September 2025.
Study, discussion and community life
Weekly meetings explore history, current affairs, geopolitics and theological and religious questions. Learning develops through discussion, reading and dialogue with guests from religious, cultural, academic, institutional and professional backgrounds.
Each meeting ends with dinner together. Once a quarter, young members and their families share a day of reflection and prayer. Journeys in Italy and abroad, institutional visits and opportunities for service complete the programme: learning also grows through relationships and shared experiences.
Amici, Socii, Comites
Amici, Socii and Comites express three aspects of the same journey: friendship, shared values and questions, and companionship. Being there for one another gives continuity to what the group explores and shares.
Meetings are reserved for group members. External guests may propose a talk or request an initial meeting with the Foundation’s representatives, to discuss a possible contribution to the group’s educational programme.
